But there’s much more to it than that. Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of concentrated plant essences (essential oils) to relieve stress, enhance health and well-being, prevent problems and support the healing process. Each essential oil has distinct therapeutic properties that can improve the body’s natural functioning and so help to prevent disease. Enhancing the health of both mind and body, they have been shown through research to possess stimulant, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory and relaxant properties, among others. The therapist will blend oils that are specific to you. holistic/swedish massage The rhythmical, soothing strokes have a profoundly calming effect on the body. Scalp work and pressure points are also used within this massage. la stone hot stones therapy massage This is a luxurious massage treatment using hot basalt (volcanic) stones in conjunction with traditional massage techniques. The heat is gradually introduced from the stones to the body, it is then possible to massage using the stones directly on the skin. This heat is deeply relaxing and also allows for deeper, firmer massage on problem areas if required. Hot Stones Therapy is appealing to those who enjoy a very relaxing treatment, but equally appealing for those who require deeper tissue massage and trigger point work. The stones can be used with varying techniques, enabling deeper pressure to be applied if necessary, together with the heat from the stones for improved tissue elasticity. This treatment goes beyond the physical experience of a typical massage, bringing about deeper dimensions of relaxation, health and well being, creating a positive approach to ‘Body-Mind-Spirit’ philosophy. sports/remedial/deep tissue An effective way to treat and prevent sports injuries. The techniques used help to relieve tension, improve joint flexibility, and improve scar tissue. It is not only professional sports men and women who can benefit from regular massage treatment, any who takes regular exercise can benefit. Likewise, anyone with aches, pains and muscular problems whether they are the result of sport, exercise or normal daily activities can benefit.

It is a way of learning how to move with maximum freedom and minimum effort. The Technique cultivates an increased sense of poise and balance in everyday life. It also teaches us to observe and choose to alter, where necessary, habitual patterns of behaviour which can be the cause of stress, fatigue and pain. Lessons are taught on a one-to-one basis and typically last forty minutes. The teacher will spend time working with you on a table, in standing and in sitting positions. She will gently use her hands to guide you through everyday movements towards a new sensory appreciation. This will encourage you to become more aware of the very subtle relationship between the head, neck and back.
