Holistic Treatments

reflexology

Reflexology is a natural, complementary treatment of the feet (or hands). It is an ancient healing therapy based on the principles that reflex points on the feet connect to corresponding areas in the body through a system of energy pathways. Using specialised massage techniques and pressure, the Reflexologist stimulates the body's immune system. This therapy encourages the body to work for it self naturally to restore its own healthy balance. A course of reflexology is usually recommended to achieve optimum effect.

shiatsu

Shiatsu is an ancient Japanese healing therapy following similar principles to acupuncture by working on a system of energy channels or 'meridians', each meridian connecting with an organ. The pressures applied by using thumbs, palms and elbows. Knees and feet can also be used in a treatment. There are also gentle stretching techniques to stimulate the meridians and re balance energy ('Ki' in Japanese) in order to promote good health.

After an initial consultation, the treatment should always be carried out on a 'futon' mat on the floor unless certain conditions make this difficult, e.g., poor health, injuries, disabilities, elderly. Patients can be in a treated in a chair or accordingly using adapted gentle techniques.

Please bring or wear loose clothing (preferably cotton), for example jogging trousers and T-shirt, in winter an additional sweat shirt or light woolen jumper.

Please avoid eating for at least 1 hour before treatment

reiki

The practice of Reiki is an original method of hands on/off healing developed by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century. Reiki’s natural healing energy works on every level, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  It promotes the body’s natural regenerative self-healing ability and is deeply relaxing.

Reiki is a gentle energy and may be used safely by all ages, including:

  • The newborn
  • Pregnant mothers
  • Surgical patients
  • The frail and the elderly, regardless of their state of health - sick and dying

During the treatment

A session is carried out with the client lying down or sitting, there is no need to remove any clothing. The practitioner places their hands gently, in a series of positions, on or over the body. The client's energy system automatically draws in only as much Reiki as is needed; using it in whatever way is most appropriate at the time. Reiki may be felt as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness, or a deep sense of peace and contentment.

crystal therapy

Crystals have been used throughout history for healing, personal reflection and meditation.

They work well with the human energy field, and can move, absorb, re- focus, direct and diffuse energy within the body. When the body is unwell or dis-eased it is usually because the person has in some way, lost their balance and natural rhythm. Working with the vibration of crystalline energy gives out a resonance of perfection, a pattern for the body to follow, which helps the body to find this natural rhythm again.

During treatment the client’s energy field is assessed then crystals are selected and can be either placed on or around the body in grids and templates to achieve a powerful treatment that is unique to the individual. It is a non-invasive treatment, which restores equilibrium to all aspects of our mental, emotional spiritual and physical self, improving well being and natural healing.

You will be in safe hands with Debbie Pettit, who has a wealth of knowledge and experience working with Crystals.

hopi ear candles

homeopathy

Homeopathy is a form of complementary medicine that gently stimulates the body’s own healing powers. It deals with the underlying causes of disease and enhances health. There are many different medicines called remedies that are used beneficially and without unwanted side effects for a wide range of complaints. Some examples of what homeopathy can treat are: chronic conditions, recurrent infections, hormonal disturbances, digestive complaints, circulatory problems, skin complaints, anxiety, depression, stress, emotional and physical trauma

A homeopathic consultation offers an opportunity to talk about your health and wellbeing in detail. I will ask you about your family medical history, your own medical history, lifestyle and the type of person you are. This is important because homeopathy treats the whole person and not just the symptoms that they are experiencing. After the initial consultation a remedy will be prescribed, in tablet or liquid form, which is most appropriate for you as an individual.

A follow up appointment within a month is recommended so that any changes in symptoms and general wellbeing can be assessed. Any further treatment can be discussed at this time. Once the original complaint has been resolved homeopathy can be used to ensure good health is maintained. Registered homeopath, Jacqui Gee, will be able to provide further information and advice.
